One of the more lighthearted devices we're testing right now, the ClockworkPi DevTerm is a modern take on 80s Tandy portable computers. With a (very retro) ultrawide "dual VGA" format screen, the DevTerm is meant as a tiny cyberdeck for creating, playing and emulating retro-style games.
The DevTerm ships as a DIY kit. With several variants available, you get to choose the right balance of performance and software support. Our review unit shipped with a Raspberry Pi CM4, which is more or less the best choice for most people.
Aside from making and playing games, the DevTerm has other uses, too, as it's a fully-featured (well, as fully-featured as a Raspberry Pi running Raspberry Pi OS is) little Linux PC. We've already had success using it as a portable terminal for Arduino programming, but there's still a lot of stuff to check out before we make the final verdict.
